The Prague-Petrovice municipal district in cooperation with the capital city inaugurated a new Prague-Petrovice Senior Citizens' Home. The reconstruction of the former nursery created a modern and dignified facility for 39 clients, where they will find not only quality care, but also an environment supporting active ageing.
Deputy Mayor for Social Affairs and Health Alexandra Udženija said at the opening, "I am very happy about the opening of the home for the elderly in Petrovice. This project has been a long time in the making and today a new phase is finally beginning - especially for its new residents. The capital city contributed a substantial financial support of 79 million crowns for the construction. Cooperation with the municipal districts is crucial for me. The people of Prague really do not care who is the founder of the home for the elderly. People need care and we must offer it together. And here, 39 clients will receive it in 31 beautiful modern single and 4 double rooms. I wish all the new residents and staff of this home a good life, to feel happy and safe here, and above all to know that they are not alone in their worries and joys."
Mayor of the capital city emphasized: "The opening of the Prague - Petrovice Senior Citizens' Home is proof that when the city and municipal districts work together, projects can be created that actually help people. The total investment in this reconstruction exceeded CZK 120 million and I am glad that we were able to help the municipality significantly with the financing. Seniors deserve a dignified and modern environment and this facility is another step towards expanding the capacity of social services in the capital."
The total investment amounted to 120 million crowns with the following distribution.
- Capital City of Prague: 79 million crowns
- Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs: 33 million crowns
- Municipal District of Prague-Petrovice: 8 million crowns
