The success story of urban agriculture on Císařský ostrov continues. Prague has approved the lease of another plot of land to the MetroFarm community garden, which has been successfully farming an area of more than 9,000 m² for four years. An additional 3,788 m² will now be added to the original plot.
The extension of the garden will allow the association to develop mainly educational activities. Children from schools and families will have the opportunity to get involved in growing vegetables and caring for animals, including chickens, goats and bees. Hands-on learning in the open air will thus help to deepen their relationship with nature and agriculture.
Support for projects like this is part of Prague's Climate Plan, which includes 69 measures for a more sustainable city. A detailed methodology is available on the municipality's website for those interested in setting up their own community garden.
