Czech University of Agriculture in Prague celebrates success. Its new Environmental Studies Pavilion won the Adapterra Awards 2024 as the best project preparing the metropolis for climate change. This unique building is dominated by a living façade made up of more than 12,000 plants.
The low-energy pavilion is more than just an ordinary university building - it functions as a living laboratory for students and researchers. All installed technologies, including a smart lighting and HVAC control system, are used not only for operations but also for research and educational purposes. The interior space is decorated with conserved moss walls, which were developed by faculty experts.
Although the pavilion is formally considered an addition to the existing buildings, its concept and functions represent a completely new approach to the construction of public buildings. The project has become part of the #jaknaklima database, which inspires the implementation of climate change measures.
