Within two years, a new school building will be added in the Prague-Kolovraty district, in which up to 510 pupils will sit. Preparatory and construction work started already in the middle of summer, but the foundation stone was tapped only in the first week of school. The new building is being built on the outskirts of the city, pupils will sit in it for the first time in the 2026/2027 school year. The capital contributed significantly to the construction of the new school.
Mayor of Prague Bohuslav Svoboda and councilor for education Antonín Klecanda, mayor Jonáš Zejfart and deputy mayor Miroslav Marinčič, representatives of local churches Karel Fáber (Church of the Brethren) and Roman Catholic priest Marian Brudny, designer Martin Hlaváček and contractors took part in the ceremonial act of knocking on the foundation stone construction company SYNER, its manager Robert Špott.
The architecture of the new school is very minimalistic and conditioned by the internal layout. The entrance vestibule attracts with its impressive character. A pleasant atmosphere is to be created by the facade made of wooden planks, the building will be dominated by large glazed areas and to minimize the absorption of daylight, the designer suggested a white facade color for the plaster. Even from a distance, the school will be easily recognizable thanks to the giant clock.
Today, complete barrier-free access, spacious corridors, airy foyer and atrium or toilets and hygienic cabins are already a matter of course. The building with three above-ground and one underground floors will be operationally divided into sections for teaching, school management, physical education and gastronomy. Part of the work also includes the preparation of the building for planned photovoltaics.
