The capital will provide funding for the reconstruction of theatres and museums and for various cultural events.Increase in the total cost of investment actions of the Capital City's contributory organisations. Prague councillors approved the increase in the budget of the city's public funds on Monday. For example, the Spejbl and Hurvínek Theatre and the Theatre in Dlouhá will get new seats, the Desfour Palace will be reconstructed and the Troja Castle will be painted.
The Desfour Palace will be managed by the Museum of the City of Prague from 2020, to which the capital will contribute CZK 751,300,000 for its reconstruction. The palace is in a state of disrepair and is banned from entry on the basis of a structural engineer's statement. Reconstruction is an absolute priority for the museum.
Prague will also contribute CZK 20 000 000 to the Prague Municipal Theatres, which comprise three theatre stages, for modernisation. The most important change will be the switch to LED technology, which has proved its worth in stage lighting so far: it has greater efficiency, significantly lower energy consumption, longer lifetime and cheaper servicing. The upgrade will take place between 2025 and 2028.
The capital will also support the Spejbl and Hurvínek Theatre, which will receive CZK 2,300,000 to replace the seats in the main hall. The auditorium of the Dlouhá Theatre also needs new seats, and the city will provide CZK 8,800,000 for this project.
The Gallery of the Capital City of Prague will also receive a new grant. The Gallery of Prague will receive CZK 1 800 000 for the restoration of the painted ceiling decoration on two floors of the side alcove towers of Troja Castle and the restoration of the preserved stucco decoration on the walls of the west tower.
For various cultural projects and activities in 2025, Prague is counting on CZK 3 190 000. These include cultural cooperation and exchange programmes and grants, including the costs of tenders and promotion.
