Prague and Beroun to gain more drinking water supply capacity. The Prague Water Management Company together with the capital city is preparing the reconstruction of the water reservoir on Kopanina, after its completion it will have a larger capacity. The investment project in the amount of CZK 53,926,900 (VAT excluded) was approved by Prague city councillors on Monday. It will be built in three stages between 2024 and 2026.

The aim is to increase the capacity and volume of drinking water supplied to Prague and Beroun. Specifically, the technological pipelines in the Kopanina water reservoir's valve chamber will be capacitated by replacing pipes and valves, new technological wiring and related construction work. In the valve chamber, there are inflow pipes to the reservoir tanks, inflow from the Radotín pumping station (CS), inflow from the Vidoule CS and outflow pipes from these tanks, off-take to Kladno, off-take to Suchdol and off-take through a common interconnecting pipe.

From the valve chamber of the old Kopanina reservoir, the primary drinking water supply is provided by Vodovody a kanalizace (VaK) Beroun. By linking the individual intake routes, it is possible to strengthen the supply to the Beroun area. As the water reservoir cannot be decommissioned for operational reasons, the project will be implemented as an in-service capability.
