The Prague City Council has approved the Memorandum on the development of the area in the Staroměstská brána project. The Memorandum establishes a long-term partnership between the Prague City Council, the Prague 1 Municipal District and a private investor. The aim is to ensure that the previously neglected zone at the end of Pařížská Avenue can function as a fully-fledged public space. The approved Memorandum sets limits for construction works and rules for the future functioning of the public space on the private investor's land. The project will be subject to the standard permitting process by the authorities concerned.
The tripartite agreement will ensure that the public interest is taken into account in the private investment to revitalise part of the end of Pařížská Avenue and Miloš Forman Square, a significant part of which now serves as an inaccessible roof of underground garages. The agreement regulates the final form of the space, guaranteeing urban elements and the presence of sustainable technologies. It takes into account the requirements of the city authorities and regulates the future management of the entire space in the long term and in the interest of the inhabitants of Prague.
