Agreement signed with landowners at Krč Hospital. This paves the way for underground line D construction

7/17/2019

Prague city representatives and Petr Witowski, Board Chairman and CEO of the Prague Public Transport Authority (DPP), signed an agreement in July following up from the Initial Framework Agreement of March 2017 on coordinated approach to the construction of 1D underground line and development of the neighboring area at Krč Hospital. Landowners are expected to sign the agreement in the coming days. The new agreement removes the current stalemate, with the landowners pledging to withdraw their legal action against the relevant zoning decision. This will make it possible to proceed with the construction of the underground line D and develop the entire area under the the landowners' New Krč project. The agreement was approved by the Prague City Council in July.

The new agreement between the owners of the land in the vicinity of Krč Hospital, the City of Prague, and the Public Transport Authority envisages the landowners withdrawing their legal action against a zoning decision for the underground line 1D. The Public Transport Authority has pledged to redesign the Krč Hospital station to make it compatible with the landowners' own overground construction project that has already been approved by the Prague Institute of Planning and Development, so that the launch of line D coincides with the completion of the project and other development initiatives in the vicinity. This means that the land over the Krč Hospital station will no longer be designated as construction free as was originally planed. The Transport Authority does not need the land either to operate the underground line or the station. By combining the two projects, a transport junction will be created at Krč Hospital, offering safe and comfortable travel in the area. The project includes an open parterre with shops and services, two large squares, residential, commercial and administrative buildings, and an outpatient clinic of Thomayer Hospital with a public space.
