Štvanice footbridge passes stress tests with trucks driving on the structure for the first and last time

The footbridge, which will connect Holešovice and Karlín districts via Štvanice Island once completed this summer, has undergone demanding stress tests. Having sent the bridge into controlled oscillations, Skanska’s construction experts loaded the structure with trucks to simulate an extreme load. The 300-meter bridge will open to pedestrians and cyclists this summer.

The structure of the footbridge has been completed including a railing with lighting. Works continue on connecting it to the roads around and on landscaping its vicinity. Static and dynamic stress tests are currently the most important step.

The authors of the footbridge are Petr Tej, Marek Blank, Jan Mourek, and Vít Najvárek, the contractor is Skanska a.s.
