At its today’s session, the Prague City Council approved a plan to call a public tender for the contractor to complete the construction of the unfinished Nová Palmovka Center in Prague 8. The building will become a new center of European space research. Prague is working on the project with the ministries of transport and finance.

The European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) has been headquartered in Prague in premises near Vltavská underground station since 2021. In the same year, the Prague Development Company was tasked with preparing a project for a new headquarters to be located on municipal land at Palmovka and with drawing up documentation for a future agreement. In 2022, the City of Prague and the Czech Ministry of Finance signed a letter of intent for a 25-year lease of the Nová Palmovka Center to EUSPA. The Prague Development Company has defined technical conditions for a public tender.

Under an optimal schedule, EUSPA should be able to relocate to Palmovka in 2025.
