Prague and an investor have presented five proposals for the completion of Prague’s Vítězné Náměstí Square. The winner of the competition will be selected by an international jury, with the public having their say, too

Apartments, offices, public amenities and a new cultural center for Prague 6. All this is to be brought about by the completion of the 4th quadrant of Prague’s Vítězné Náměstí Square. Designs by five finalists of the international architectural competition will be presented in an outdoor exhibition right on the square. The public has an opportunity to submit their comments on the designs, which will be handed over to the international expert jury before they select the winner.

Although the urban concept for the Dejvice district was designed by Antonín Engel a hundred years ago, a part of Vítězné Náměstí Square, the so-called 4th quadrant, has remained bare to this day. Upon agreement between the investor and the city, its new shape is to be determined by an international architectural competition, which is now approaching its final stage.

Five out of 44 teams have made it to the finals. Citizens can view their designs on the competition website at www.4kvadrant.cz and at an exhibition located directly on Vítězné Náměstí Square until June 30. They can comment on the proposals on the competition’s website until June 11.
