At their today’s session, Prague city councilors approved three studies that will help set the direction for the future development and improvement of the area along the central part of the North-South inner-city motorway. The studies focus on the section from the Vltava River to the U Bulhara intersection, the park at Těšnov, and the area outside the historic Main Station building that will also undergo transformation.

The city aims to integrate the motorway into the urban environment more closely in a situation when it will not be possible to make fundamental changes in the near future due to the expected car traffic intensity. The first phase will include, e.g., a replacement of the street lighting and road signs with a different type, and in the medium term, we will see a change of the width and number of lanes with simultaneous widening of the sidewalk with the cycling path.
