At its session on Monday, the Prague City Council recommended the sale of a built-up plot of land in the Central Bohemian town of Lázně Toušeň. Prague has had no use for the property for a long time and has been renting part of it. Today’s decision is yet to be approved by the Prague City Assembly at its April session.

“As the owner of the property, Prague has an obligation to maintain it, but at the same time, it has no long-term use for it that would benefit the city and its citizens. The lease of part of the property brought CZK 200,000 to the city budget every year. By selling the property, the city acts as a diligent manager. The price has been estimated at approximately 30 million, so the city will make almost two million crowns from this transaction,” says Adam Zábranský, Prague Councilor for Asset Management, Transparency and Legislation.

The Prague City Hall announced its intention to sell plots of land in Lázně Toušeň with an area of 10,833 m2 and 1,835 m2, respectively, in June last year. The minimum purchase price was based on an expert opinion, which put the value of the property at 30,280,000 crowns.

Three entities submitted their bids in a public tender. In August 2022, the city agreed to sell the land to the highest bidder. However, the entity asked to withdraw from the tender in January of the following year. Meanwhile, the second highest bidder increased the offered price to 32 million crowns. 

Once the sale is approved by the Prague City Assembly, the company České štěrkopísky spol. s r.o. will become the new owner of the property. The land with the building forms a single functional unit that used to serve as a civil defense warehouse. The land is located at U Cihelny Street on the premises of a former brickworks on the southern edge of the town of Lázně Toušeň.
