The City of Prague became the owner of the former golf course in Prague-Klánovice district. Upon agreement with the district authority, the facility located in Klánovice Forest will serve mainly local citizens, including various leisure activities for children and youth. Prague acquired the clubhouse with a plot of land spanning 26,000 square meters for the starting auction price of 46.4 million crowns.
The Prague City Assembly approved the purchase in February. The building of the former golf clubhouse has served as a restaurant with a capacity of one hundred seats and will continue to serve as such. The city will refurbish the building dating from the 1930s with respect for its architectural value. According to an expert opinion, the building, which was last repaired in 2008, is in a good technical condition.
“For me, the purchase of the former golf course in Klánovice at auction is an extraordinary success. In the future, Prague children will be able to spend their free time during the summer holidays at the facility in cooperation with DDM Prague. We are yet to discuss this plan within the coalition and with the city district. The Klánovice district has been waiting for meaningful use of the site for many years,” says city councilor Adam Zábranský, who oversees the city’s asset management, transparency, and legislation agendas.
