A comprehensive project including revitalization of the Vrchlického Sady park, construction of a new tram line between Muzeum and Bolzanova Street, and refurbishment of the Main Station’s central hall has proceeded to the next phase. The project committee selected three international architectural teams for the next round of the competitive dialogue. The teams including Henning Larsen Architects A/S, Re:architekti+Baukuh+YellowOffice, and Miralles Tagliabue EMBT S.L.P. + OCA architects Prague, s.r.o. now have time until the beginning of March 2023 to design their solutions for the project.
Due to the scope and complexity of the project, the evaluation committee comprising stakeholders (representatives of the contracting authorities) and independent members (architects, landscape architects, and historians) invited additional experts to take part in the presentations and subsequent discussions. These included representatives of other contracting entities for various aspects of the project, such as the operation and management of the railway station hall, lease, and technologies and operations of the underground and trams. Furthermore, there were experts on biotechnology, blue and green infrastructure, public engagement, cycling, monument protection, and others, including representatives of the city districts concerned.
The bidding teams will have until the beginning of March 2023 to draw up proposals for the “Nový Hlavák” project. After their presentation to the jury, there will be time until the end of May to finalize the designs.
