One of Prague’s most important and busiest squares - Jiřího z Poděbrad - has long been in an unsatisfactory condition. Its transformation has been talked about for more than two decades. Yesterday, Prague City Council agreed to finance the project, which was designed by MCA studio with inputs from the public. The transformation is expected to begin in 2023.
After many years, Jiřího z Poděbrad Square is finally about to be completely redesigned. There will be new trees, greenery, an irrigation system leveraging rainwater; and the decorative fountain will be restored.
Citizens could influence the final design by submitting their comments and suggestions directly on the spot in a container office, a collaboration of Prague 3 city district and the IPR.
As the project is of citywide importance, the district authority agreed with the City Hall that it will be financed from Prague’s municipal budget.
