Prague is planning to carry on with the revitalization of the Smetana Embankment on the opposite side of the new promenade and beyond. The project will cover the stretch from Mánes past the Charles Bridge and Křižovnické Square, along Křižovnická Street to Jana Palacha Square. This is the second stage of the successful revitalization project of the Smetana Embankment. The Technical Road Administration (TSK) has built new tram stops at Karlovy Lázně and the National Theater and a wide pedestrian promenade with a newly planted line of trees along the Smetana Embankment. The project was divided into three separate parts, which were connected and closely coordinated.

The second stage, which will revitalize the public space of the entire stretch from Mánes to Jana Palacha Square, is expected to be completed in 2024. It will improve the pedestrian, cycling, and public transport experience. Nothing will change for road traffic once the works are completed.

The second stage also covers the Křižovnické Square area, where a tram line and a road intersect with the Royal Route that sees up to 100,000 pedestrians a day in the summer months. A wide pedestrian promenade towards the National Theatre with an iconic view of the Prague Castle will improve the experience for visitors.
