Vicinity of Metro D stations to liven up. Thousands of metropolitan apartments, vibrant neighborhoods, and new parks

The construction of metro D has already started, and the city is planning to develop the vicinity of its stations. Locations near the Krč train station and the Krč Hospital will be transformed, and entire new neighborhoods are to emerge at Nové Dvory and Libuše. The first metro train should set off for Písnice as early as 2029.

“Metro D is currently the most important infrastructure construction project in Prague. It will provide better connection from the center of the city to its southern parts. Prague is currently facing a housing crisis, and projects in the vicinity of future metro stations have a potential to alleviate this problem. The Institute of Planning and Development (IPR) was tasked with producing a zoning study for the Nové Dvory and Libuš sites, commissioning UNIT Architects to draw it up. More than 6,000 new flats will be built in the area between Krč and Písnice districts, some of which will remain in municipal hands and serve as affordable housing. The plans include new parks, squares, and shops, as well as an outpatient hospital, a primary school and a kindergarten,” comments Ondřej Boháč, Director of Prague’s Institute of Planning and Development.
