A total of 10 projects were awarded in the 2021 Building of the Year competition, four of which are located in the capital Prague. The Prague Mayor Award went to the modern Troja Footbridge that spans Vltava River to connect the Imperial Island with Troja district.

The nation-wide Building of the Year competition is the largest architectural and construction engineering competition in the Czech Republic. The 29th annual award ceremony, with the participation of Prague’s Mayor Zdeněk Hřib, took place traditionally at Bethlehem Chapel in Prague on Monday, 18 October 2021.

The main Building of the Year 2021 awards went to 10 projects, including four located in Prague: refurbishments of buildings at 1 Bubenská Street and 1 Hybernská Street 1, new Christ the Savior Church with a community center in Barrandov district, and modernization of sewerage system in Libeň district.

Besides the main category, prizes were awarded also in special categories. Zdeněk Hřib selected the new Troja Footbridge for the prestigious Prague Mayor Award. He handed over the award personally at the ceremony.
