At its session on 12 November 2020, Prague City Assembly approved an amendment to the zoning plan in a shortened procedure to allow for the construction of Vltava Philharmonic, a new concert hall in Holešovice district. A regular approval process needs to be initiated now for this major municipal project to go ahead.
The city is now waiting for the results of a business feasibility study which is being compiled by a team led by Henning Larsen, a renowned Danish studio. The study will serve as one of the key inputs for a decision if the Vltava Philharmonic project proceeds to the next stage or not. If yes, the next step will be a call for an international architectural study and preparation of the project documentation. The results of the study are expected to be available by the end of this year.
The new concert hall will be the main impetus for an iterative revival of this long-neglected part of Prague.
