Prague to support housing advisory centers to help people in housing distress

10/12/2020

The City of Prague to support housing advisory centers in Prague 3 and Prague 7. City Councilors have agreed to provide a non-investment special-purpose subsidy amounting to approximately 3.9 million crowns to cover the staff costs of these centers until the end of 2022. The plan is yet to be approved by the City Assembly.

The housing advisory centers are one of the high-priority tools in solving housing distress in the capital city. The centers will offer social benefits and debt resolution advisory, legal counsel, and real estate services and will assist clients with finding relevant housing options, filling in applications for municipal apartments etc. The centers are one of the pillars of Prague’s integrated housing distress relief system, a project implemented by Prague between 2020 and 2022 and financed from the European Operational Programme Employment.

The project is aimed at people endangered or potentially endangered with housing distress, such as low-income senior citizens, disabled people, and single parents.
