As of 20 May 2020, tenants of city-owned premises may file electronic applications with Prague’s COVID – Rent aid program to receive a discount on the rent. The application form is available on Prague’s Real Estate Portal (https://www.realitniportalpraha.cz/cs/CovidRequest).

 Prague City Council decided to provide a discount in keeping with a forthcoming government program. The discount on the rent is intended for commercial tenants whom the extraordinary measures adopted in association with the CIVID-19 pandemic have completely or partially prevented from conducting their business activities. This applies to non-residential assets rented by the City of Prague.

Applicants must meet criteria defined by the City Council. The criteria and detailed instructions how to apply are available on the Prague Real Estate Portal.

“The current situation caused by the COVID-19 epidemic has had severe impact on tenants that rent city-owned premises. It may result in shop closures and growth in unemployment and hamper access to services in the capital city. That is why it is necessary for Prague as an asset owner to support its tenants who have been hit by the crisis, and help them maintain business continuity in their shops,”says City Councilor Jan Chabr.

The applications will be handled by the City Hall’s Asset Management Department which will immediately process them in collaboration with other relevant departments.  “We have set the entire process for speedy assessment and approval of applications to maximize the effectiveness of the aid. Tenants have until 30 June 2020 to submit their applications,” says Jan Rak, head of the Asset Management Department.
