General planner appointed for Smíchov Terminal

3/30/2020

Prague City Council has approved the appointment of a general planner for Smíchov Terminal. The winning bidder, a consortium of SUDOP PRAHA, SUDOP EU, Metroprojekt and A69 Architects, is expected to draw up complete plans for a modern transport hub. If nothing goes wrong, construction should commence in 2024 pending a zoning decision and a building permit based on the documentation to be delivered by the general planner.

The general planner was selected from four bidders based on multiple criteria and the price of 141,600,000 CZK without VAT. For instance, the qualification and experience of the principal engineer and of the principal architect of the project had an equal weight in the evaluation. The aim was to ensure a high technical standard and architectural qualities of the project.

Next, an agreement is to be signed after which work on the project documentation will start in coordination with the Railway Authority to align with its plans to refurbish the Smíchov station. Besides the terminal and the refurbished railway station, the complex will include office buildings for the Railway Authority and a new bridge over the tracks to connect the historic Smíchov district with the new Smíchov City project.
