Prague promotes housing focal points through community events

8/13/2024

The City of Prague, in cooperation with the city districts, has launched a series of community events aimed at raising awareness of housing contact points. The first of these events, a barbecue for the residents of Prague 9 and Prague 14, took place on Saturday 10 August 2024 at the H55 Leisure Centre in Prague 14. Representatives of the municipality discussed the current housing situation with local residents and presented the possibilities offered by the contact points.

The housing contact points were established within the framework of the projects "Housing and housing support for households and housing contact points" and "Housing and housing support for households and tenant advisors" financed by the European Social Fund. The aim is to provide citizens with information and support in finding housing, solving housing need or problems with existing housing. The contact points also provide assistance in dealing with complaints and suggestions from existing tenants in both public and private housing. Tenant Advisors also assist with the prevention and effective resolution of potential neighbourhood problems.

"We are starting a series of community events to raise awareness of the contact points that already exist. We want residents to know that they have someone to turn to when they are dealing with housing problems. These events allow us to be closer to people and better understand their needs. We don't want to let anyone fall into trouble," said Alexandra Udzheniya, Deputy Mayor

The next community event will take place on 3 September 2024 in Prague 8. People can look forward to another barbecue, a children's programme and discussions with representatives of the municipality and the district.

Contact points for housing are located in the Prague City Hall building at 35/29 Jungmannov Street and in the districts of Prague 1, Prague 3, Prague 5, Prague 8, Prague 9 and Prague 14. The contact points are intended for all citizens who are looking for a solution to their housing problems. The advice is free of charge.
