The transformation of the so-called pentagon on Palmovka, the area between Voctářova, Švábky and Sokolovská streets in Prague 8, is one significant step closer to its realisation. The City Council of the Capital City of Prague is now closer to the end of the project. At its last meeting, the Prague City Council approved an amendment to the zoning plan, which will enable the coordinated urban development of this area according to the Palmovka Zoning Study. According to the plan, the potential capacity of the local urban land will increase by approximately 120,000 m2 of gross floor area. Two thousand urban flats will also be built on them. Construction is expected to start in phases over a period of five to fifteen years. On a total of 8 hectares of urban land in the Palmovka development area, the Prague Development Company (PDS) is preparing 2,000 urban flats and about 40,000 to 50,000 m² of space that can be used for administration, retail (restaurants, cafés, smaller shops and services) and non-commercial purposes (for a primary school, cultural or community centres, a library and children's leisure activities). The Prague Development Company (PDS) was established on the initiative of Petr Hlaváček on 1 June 2020 as a contributory organisation of the City of Prague. Its aim is to value the real estate assets of the capital city. Prague's real estate assets and the preparation of projects, especially urban rental housing, in order to expand the city's housing stock and offer it especially to representatives of the so-called preferred professions and single parents. The PDS was established by decisions of the City Council of the Capital City of Prague. The PDS was given approximately 800,000 m2 of land owned by the Prague City Council to manage. Prague, on which it is planned to build 6,000 to 8,000 flats in the horizon of up to ten years or more.
