Prague approves new form of Radlica radiala, most of it will go underground

6/19/2024

Prague city councillors on Monday approved a major transformation of the Radlice radial. The improved design will bring traffic largely underground and will make it much easier for residents living in the area. The modifications to the project will not reduce the traffic function of the structure and at the same time will not disturb the surrounding environment by creating a barrier that is difficult to pass.

The Radlická Radial is an important road of urban and regional significance, forming an important part of Prague's radial ring system in the south-western part of the city. It connects the Prague Ring Road with the City Ring Road as a continuation of the Rozvadovská spojka with an exit on Dobříšská Street in the area of Zlíchov. Its realisation is a prerequisite for further development of the south-western city. The most demanding construction object will be the 2,300-metre-long Radlice tunnel.
