Prague inaugurated a new footbridge at Rajská zahrada, which will make it much easier for people to transfer from the train to the metro

4/5/2024

The footbridge at the Rajská zahrada metro station in Prague 14 was officially opened on Tuesday, 2 April 2024, in the presence of representatives of the capital city and other guests. This construction has created a convenient and fast pedestrian connection between the metro and the recently built railway station, as well as a safe passage through the Kyje - Hutě area via the railway line and the busy Chlumecka Street. The inauguration of the footbridge also included the presentation of new elements of the Čitelná Praha navigation system in the surrounding area.

Part of the footbridge over the railway line was opened to the public in December last year. Now the entire footbridge, including the section leading over Chlumecká Street, has been completed and approved.

The price paid for the construction of the footbridge was CZK 82.6 million, excluding VAT. Technically, it consists of two simply placed steel truss footbridges and two towers to connect the height levels at the ends of the footbridges. The towers contain lift shafts and staircases. The clear width of the footbridges is 3.75 metres, the clear width of the staircases is 1.75 metres. The length of the footbridge over the Chlumecká River is 49.35 metres,

Trains of five lines have been stopping at the new railway station Praha-Rajská zahrada since December 2023, but until now there has been no high-quality and fast connection to the Černý Most housing estate, only in the direction of the Hutě district. Now, however, the stop is completely barrier-free, thanks to the footbridge over Chlumecká Street.
