After a long time, the opportunity to operate its business in a unique location near the Vltava riverbank is once again on offer. The municipal company TRADE CENTRE PRAHA (TCP), which manages Prague's embankments, has announced an open tender for the lease of dungeon number 1 on the Smíchov embankment. After almost four years, this is the first time that interested parties have the opportunity to bid for an attractive space in the embankment wall. The aim of the tender is to revive the atmosphere in the area near the Palacký Bridge in a cultural and social way. Bids can be submitted until 4 March 2024, with the winning tenant signing a contract for an indefinite period.
The dungeon's lease area measures over sixty square metres and, in conjunction with its operation, it is possible to use the front garden or the space by the high quay wall for larger events or to host various panel exhibitions. The primary consideration in the tender process will be the operational and dramaturgical intent with which the landlord wishes to use the space, the price offered for the lease and the operator's previous experience with similar types of business will also play a role.
"Kobka 1, together with the adjacent surroundings, has long been a separate and specific place on the Smíchov embankment with a noticeably lower footfall than its southern part. The tenant should therefore successfully deal with this factor and take advantage of the positive aspects that the location offers, such as better transport accessibility or visibility of the dugout from the busy Palacký Bridge," says Adam Zábranský, Prague's councillor for property, transparency and legislation.
