Prague started building a new footbridge in Troja

11/7/2019

Next year, Prague inhabitants will again be able to walk from Stromovka Park to Troja Zoo over a footbridge whose construction has just started. The construction company, SMP CZ, a.s., started preparing the site last week before it will go on to erecting supporting pillars. The new footbridge will cost the city CZK 128,248,653.

The construction spanning from Troja to Císařský Island will not only look different than its predecessor but will also be more durable and easier to inspect and maintain. The previous bridge that collapsed will be replaced with a steel-lined construction that should last 100 years. Unlike the old bridge, the new will not rust on the inside and its condition will be easy to inspect. It has been designed so as to allow easy access to the steel suspension cables for effective status checks.
