Prague city councillors have approved investments of almost CZK 220 million for the modernisation of public lighting in the e-mobility project for this year. As part of this investment, 1,026 poles and luminaires will be built in Prague, 239 of which will be so-called EVR lamps that can be easily fitted with charging stations for electric vehicles in the future.
According to the medium scenario of the Recharging Infrastructure Development Master Plan, which was approved by the City Council of the Capital City of Prague. Prague on 22 February 2021, it is envisaged that in 2030 there will be approximately 180,000 electric vehicles on the streets of Prague. It is therefore necessary to build at least 4,500 charging stations in the city by then.
Within the framework of this project, the aforementioned EV-ready lamps are being created, which can be equipped with charging stations for electric vehicles in the future without any significant financial, technological or time constraints. Currently, this is the only project of the City of Prague for the construction or preparation of charging stations.
New locations for the construction of EVR lamps are selected based on the need to renew the distribution system to maximize cost savings in the construction of charging infrastructure. At the same time, public lighting is also upgraded for lighting purposes.
