The City Council has approved the application for support under the 65th call of the Integrated Regional Operational Programme, which is announced by the Ministry for Regional Development and supports investments in green infrastructure. The city is applying for a subsidy for the transformation of the upper part of Jiřího z Poděbrad Square.
For decades, Jiřího z Poděbrad Square has been burdened with unconceptual transformations that have fundamentally changed the surroundings of the cultural monument of the Sacred Heart Church. The aim of the square's renovation is to create an adequate and dignified forecourt of the church, which will provide a quality public space, increase the pedestrian permeability of the square and improve the safety of the inhabitants.
The estimated cost of the transformation of the square is CZK 477.7 million. Support from the Ministry of Regional Development could reach up to half of the total investment costs, i.e. CZK 238.8 million.
