Prague has a new mapping application created in cooperation with the Institute of Planning and Development (IPR). The app shows what specific assets the City of Prague owns and who manages them. This information has not yet been comprehensively published anywhere.
“I consider the new map, which IPR helped us develop, to be the first step towards better public information. It is currently quite difficult for an ordinary citizen to understand the complex property relations concerning municipal assets. In its current form, the new map displays all real estates owned by Prague, and the user can get information about who is in charge of each property or whether it is managed externally,” says Adam Zábranský, Prague City Councilor responsible for property, transparency and legislation.
Until now, people could only find some information from the Land Registry, but information about administrators is now publicly available for the first time ever. The map application will reveal if a real estate is managed by one of the municipal companies, such as the Technical Road Administration or the Prague Technology Company, for instance.
