New water sports park is to be built in Prague’s Troja district. It will serve both the public and as a national training center

the Prague Council approved the intent to build a canoeing canal and a multipurpose sports compound in Troja Basin. The new facility will serve both the general public and professional athletes. It will become a national training center for water sports. The design will resemble a landscaped park with plenty of greenery.

The compound will be created on the banks of the Vltava River along Vodácka Street by expanding the existing slalom track and new construction in its vicinity. Compared to the existing channel, it will offer a number of new opportunities for the general sporting public as well as facilities for spectators, including new grandstands. For professional athletes, the project will mean an improvement of training possibilities. Last but not least, it will serve for the training of rescue services. The multifunctional facilities will be fully available the year round.

The project will include the planting of new trees as well as other greenery and transforming the riverside floodplain site into a landscaped park.
