Ďáblice is one of the most valuable housing estates in Prague, not only because of good transport connections, plenty of greenery and original public amenities. Prague decided to create a zoning study in 2018 to protect the area against various proposals for ad-hoc construction projects and a potential loss of cohesion and functionality. However, the study failed to meet with a positive response from either the residents or the Prague 8 district authority. The city therefore decided to revise the study with a focus on development and protection of the area. A new version of the study was made public at the Centre for Architecture and Urban Planning (CAMP) today.
The part of the original study that stirred the strongest emotions was a proposed new construction on municipal land along Střelničná Street. It has been removed from the revised study. The new version focuses primarily on public space, green areas, streets and buildings, and suggests measures that could increase the attractiveness of the location and the quality of life in the estate.
