At its session on Monday, the Prague City Council voted to terminate a lease contract with Integra, a foundation for international education and integration, for municipal premises in Opletalova Street. The reason is an outstanding debt on the rent in excess of 1,347,000 crowns. The move was put forward by councilor Adam Zábranský, who is responsible for the municipal asset management and transparency, in accordance with his election promise to rectify lease contracts for non-residential premises that are unfavorable for the city.
“The tenant failed to respond to our call to pay the outstanding amount, so the city had no other option but to terminate the contract. At the same time, however, I do not see any reason for a foundation that has not shown any socially beneficial activity in the long run, to enjoy a reduced rent in the lucrative premises. Besides, the foundation’s activities in general raise a number of questions. I also consider it unfortunate that the lease contract was passed from one tenant to another with a completely different type of activity while the preferential lease conditions remained intact,” city councilor Adam Zábranský explained.
