Teams from Europe, Asia, and America have been shortlisted for first stage of urban landscape competition for Soutok Suburban Park

The Institute of Planning and Development (IPR) has announced the names of six architectural teams it has invited to present designs for the planned Soutok Suburban Park. The aim of the competition is to select a team of landscape and urban designers to suggest future shape of this area and outline its long-term development as a suburban park. The winner of the competition is expected to be announced in spring 2023 and asked to refine the design in collaboration with all stakeholders in the area.

The landscape at the confluence of rivers Berounka and Vltava offers a huge potential. Although the area is largely a floodplain with no possibility of conventional construction projects, there are opportunities to build suburban recreation facilities, perform sustainable agriculture, and to nurture a riverscape of high natural value. That is why Prague city councilors commissioned IPR to announce an international landscape-urban design competition for the design of the Soutok Suburban Park in August 2022.

In spring 2023, citizens, landowners, and other important stakeholders in the area will be notified of the results of the competition and will have an opportunity to present their comments and suggestions that will be taken into account in the process of refining the final version of the guide plan.
