Prague moves forward with preparations for new construction at Žižkov Freight On Monday, the Prague City Council approved an urban development study of the Žižkov Freight Station site, taking a major step towards the transformation of one of the most important brownfields in the wider center of Prague. The study sets out a detailed regulation of the area and envisages, among other things, that a new primary school and a new extensive park will be built on the premises of the former railway station. The city plans to select their designs in respective architectural competitions. Transformation of Jarovská Street has also been given the green light to proceed to the next stage.
In its study, the Institute of Planning and Development (IPR) drew up a concept for the entire Žižkov Freight Station premises, coordinating individual construction plans of private investors, the city and the municipal district.
The city requests that developers contribute over 1.5 billion for the construction of public amenities in the area.
The study as approved by the City Council is available on the IPR website.
