New trees, sidewalks, and a fountain. The first stage of an extensive renovation of Wenceslas Square is over

After approximately two years, Prague has completed the first stage of a project to revitalize Wenceslas Square, starting with its lower part. The transformed space is intended to be more convenient for both the citizens of Prague and its visitors. For instance, new lines of trees have been planted, a new fountain and street furniture have been installed, and all road surfaces have been replaced to make the place more open to the public. The project has cost the city CZK 347 million excluding VAT.

After more than two years, Prague has completed revitalization of the lower part of Wenceslas Square. For instance, two new lines of trees with 42 European lindens have been planted, a new fountain as an important city-forming element and street furniture including benches, waste bins and bicycle racks have been installed for a greater comfort and convenience of Prague residents and visitors.

The total cost of the work on the lower part of the square was CZK 347 million excluding VAT.
