Prague plans to acquire land in the Trojmezí area for leisure purposes

The capital city has expressed interest in acquiring a plot of land in the area called Trojmezí in Záběhlice district, located at the verge of an existing residential area and is adjacent to Choceradský Brook and a retention reservoir. The land in question constitutes a large development area, which is unique in Prague in terms of its size, location and potential. Currently, there are only unpaved footpaths across the territory. If the city eventually acquires the land, it will revitalize the area and make it more accessible to the public.

“As stated in a memorandum between the Prague 10, 11, and 15 districts and the capital city concerning the development of the Trojmezí area, the city strives to acquire as much land for leisure purposes as possible. Prague’s Institute for Planning and Development is holding a landscape design competition to define the future shape of the constituent parts of the territory,” says Jan Chabr, Prague’s City Councilor responsible for municipal asset management.

Approximately 900 m2 of the territory could be used for construction projects as the city may need. “The land was owned by the state, managed by the Office for State Representation in Property Affairs and sold at auction. The capital was given the opportunity to match the highest bid in the auction. The total area is 4,802 m2. We acquired the land for CZK 16,750,000. The transaction is yet to be approved by the Prague City Assembly, but I see it as a positive first step in the process of consolidating and acquiring the Trojmezí area to the benefit of Prague citizens,” said Councillor Jan Chabr.
