Prague discloses asset management results on a new online portal

4/12/2019

Prague city administration launched a new Asset Information Portal (AIP) at www.majetkovyportalpraha.czlast Thursday to improve the transparency of the city's asset management. AIP provides easily navigable data on assets owned by capital Prague. This is another initiative aimed at improving city administration transparency, after the launch of Prague Real Estate Portal that carries all current offers for the sale or lease of real estates owned by the Prague and its districts.

“The Prague Asset Information Portal presents the results of the activities of the Asset Management Department in a clear, concise and transparent manner for both public institutions and government bodies but also for the general public. Everyone will have an opportunity to check what's cooking in here because we believe the public has the right to such information,”says Prague Councilor Jan Chabr.

“The system is designed with great attention to detail, with data being retrieved from the property registry and posted to the portal only after verification. In the first stage, the website is static with data uploaded manually from the system. However, we are going to evolve the website and we are currently implementing and testing integration with the property registry so that data are generated automatically,”adds Ing. Jan Rak, head of the Property Management Department of Prague City Hall.

The project has been implemented by the Public Sector Consulting Department of PricewaterhouseCoopers Czech Republic. “The tool will help improve the transparency of the city's asset management. By opting for a modern, dashboard-based communication platform to disclose its data, the city of Prague is coming on par with major global cities, such as Dublin, Edmonton and Glasgow,”concludes Karel Půbal, head of the Public Sector Consulting Department at PwC Czech Republic.  The Prague Property Portal located at www.majetkovyportalpraha.czis one of his team’s initiatives focused on creating simple, fast and effective platforms to facilitate communication between public administration bodies and citizens.

Prague's portfolio of assets is managed by multiple entities. Assets that have not been assigned to individual city districts have been used by not-for-profit organizations financed from the municipal budget, by municipal companies, or directly by various City Hall departments. The City Hall's Municipal Asset Management Department hires external companies to manage the assets under its control. These include primarily city-owned real estates designated for commercial purposes.
