Prague approved a plan to revitalize Vrchlického Park, refurbish the main railway station’s hall and build of a new tram line

5/16/2022

The Prague City Council agreed to call a competitive dialogue for the revitalization of the main railway station and its vicinity, including Vrchlického Park, the station’s hall, and the construction of a new tram line. The competitive dialogue with subsequent implementation of the project is a joint activity of the Prague City Hall, the Railway Administration, Prague’s Public Transport Authority (DPP), and the Institute of Planning and Development of the City of Prague (IPR). The purpose of the dialogue is to select an architectural design that best fulfills the complex vision. The winning proposal will be announced next summer.

The project envisages a new concept and transformation of Vrchlického Park, including the construction of a new tram line from Opletalova Street to the National Museum and an extensive refurbishment of the Main Station’s ticket hall. The aim of the project is to improve and rejuvenate the entire area and create significantly better conditions for both residents and passengers.

Updates about the project will be posted on www.novyhlavak.com.
