Prague city councilors lift construction ban along metro line D, opening way to emergence of new city districts

5/2/2022

Upon proposal by the 1st Deputy Mayor of Prague, Petr Hlaváček, the Prague City Council, approved the lifting of construction bans that were imposed in 2001 to block constructions that might collide with the planned metro line D and its surface infrastructure. This is no longer necessary in the stretch from Pankrác to Depo Písnice. The underground project has been precisely defined in the building permit and its construction has already started. Om other words, the city knows exactly where and what is going to be built on the surface. Blocking large areas around the new stations any longer would unnecessarily hinder further development of the city and restrict the property rights of the owners of neighboring land, including, incidentally, the city itself, for no legal reason.
