Václav Škarda’s studio became the winner of an architectural competition for the refurbishment of three houses in Šolínova Street in Prague 6, which will serve Home for the Elderly of Eliška Purkyňová. According to the final verdict of an expert jury that evaluated entries in the architectural competition held by the capital city and the Prague 6 district, the winning design integrated the intended functions of the refurbished premises in the most effective way. The compound will include a home for the elderly, a special care home, day respite service, and other supportive health and social services for citizens of Prague 6. The ground floor will house medical offices, a pharmacy, a cafe and a small hall for cultural events, including public ones. Rest gardens will be built in the courtyards. Three houses that were built for social needs in 1924 and which have been let to dilapidate in the past decade will soon get a new lease of life.
