Prague to prepare a landscape study for Trojmezí area.

11/15/2021

Prague City Council has tasked the Institute of Planning and Development (IPR) with drawing up a landscape study for the so-called Trojmezí area. Most of the area, which is surrounded by built-up areas of city districts Prague 4, 10, 11, and 15, is part of the Hostivař-Záběhlice Nature Park. The aim of the study is to define the natural values of the location and to create an enjoyable leisure area. The public will be able to participate in the preparation of the study.

Trojmezí is a major leisure area for the inhabitants of Chodov, Spořilov, Hostivař, Záběhlice, and other parts of the city. Besides Botič Meanders natural monument, the area includes multiple artificial lakes and a large, neglected orchard. Multiple landscape studies for the area were drawn up by landowners and civic associations in the past but none of them was accepted. In April 2021, Prague City Hall and the city districts concerned therefore issued a memorandum on a joint solution for the Trojmezí area. As suggested by the First Deputy Mayor, Petr Hlaváček, the city pledged to undertook to task the IPR with the drawing up a landscape study for the entire location.

The two-part study is expected to be completed in two years. In the process, regular consultations will be held with the affected city districts, relevant state administration bodies, landowners, local residents, and civic associations. Local people will be able to bring up their suggestions in an opinion poll, join walks with experts, and discuss the plans on the spot at a booth container to be set up for this purpose. The proposal will take into consideration all technical infrastructure development plans, such as a new water pipeline, as well as existing cycling tracks.
