The Prague City Council adopted a proposal to provide discounts on rent to tenants in city-owned non-residential properties due to the continuing COVID-19 crisis. Tenants in non-residential properties may apply for a discount from now until 31 December 2021. Depending on the type of business and terms of the contract, the discounts range from 30 to 70 percent of the rent.
“We had to respond to the current situation caused by another wave of the COVID-19 epidemic has had severe economic impact Prague-based businesses and might result in shop closures, growth of unemployment, and hamper access to services in the capital city. As a real estate owner, the city wants to support entrepreneurs so that they can keep their businesses running,” says City Councilor Jan Chabr.
Entrepreneurs may apply for an up to 70% discount on the rent for the period from 1 January 2021 to 30 November 2021. To be eligible, they need to meet certain criteria specified in an annex to the Application. A discount will be granted as public support within the scope of the de minimis rule under Commission Regulation (EC) No 1407/2013.
