Prague City Council today approved the National Athletic Agency’s investment plan to refurbish and modernize the premises of Tatra Smíchov Rugby Club. Co-financing of investments into municipal sports infrastructure is part of Prague’s Sport and Sport Facilities Development Plan 2021-2032. The city is planning to allocate 40 million CZK for this purpose in next year’s budget.
The aim of the project is to build a modern regional athletic center that will meet the criteria for international men’s, women’s and youth competitions in all categories including World championship qualification tournaments, European Championship tournaments, rugby sevens Olympic qualification matches, the Rugby Europe Sevens Championship Series, and exhibition games. The stadium will be able to host a greater number of rugby matches.
