Prague to allocate another 20 flats for firefighters

8/30/2021

Prague city councilors have agreed to increase the number of flats allocated for employees of Prague’s Fire Brigade. In the current election term alone, the city has extended the offer of housing for supported professionals by 290 flats.

City-owned flats will be rented as they become available due to rent agreement expiry or after the completion of refurbishment. As a standard, the city will offer two-year rent agreements, with an extension option.

In May this year, Prague also increased the number of flats allocated for teachers at municipal schools. Back then, the City Council added another 50 to the original 330 for a total of 380. In June this year, the number of flats available to health and social care workers increased from 97 to 147. Housing allocation for the metropolitan police grew from 300 to 330 units. Key professionals are one of the target groups for municipal housing. Others include, e.g., people without permanent shelter, senior citizens, and single-parent families.
