The reconstruction of the historic Vinohrady Theatre is taking concrete shape. The City Council has approved a tender for a construction supervisor to oversee the complete renovation of the building, including the modernisation of the theatre technology. The value of the supervision contract is CZK 45 million excluding VAT.
The construction work itself, which should start in the first quarter of next year, is estimated at more than CZK 2.2 billion. In addition to the total reconstruction of the historic building from 1907, the project also envisages the expansion of the underground space. A new rehearsal hall will be created here, which will also serve as an intimate stage for 150 to 200 spectators.
The reconstruction is essential for the more than 100-year-old building - the theatre is in a state of disrepair and has not undergone any major repairs since its construction. In particular, the theatre technology is completely inadequate and can no longer be used.
