At its session on 19 November 2019, the Prague City Council decided to allocate an increased number of public housing apartments for key groups of professionals. These include primarily social workers, members of the integrated rescue systems, and school teachers.

Prague has long been facing a housing shortage that affects public-sector employees who are key for the city's functioning. That is why city leaders decided to allocate an increased number of public flats to selected professions.

Public housing will newly be available to social workers - they have been allocated 50 public flats. Additional 25 public flats have been allocated for teachers, 15 for municipal police officers, 7 for Prague firefighters, and five for municipal ambulance service workers. In total, the number of public flats available to these professionals will increase from the current 1339 by additional 133 housing units.
