Today, a property exchange between the capital city and the Czech Republic was registered in the Land Registry, in which Prague acquired the building of the Karlin barracks, a building in Hybernská Street and other land in exchange for a total of 46 plots and 10 buildings on the premises of the Bulovka University Hospital.
The listed Karlín Barracks include 4 plots of land and 3 buildings worth CZK 1,113,000,000. They are part of a larger property exchange, which the City Council of the Capital City of Prague approved. Prague approved last April.

"We have managed to bring to an end several years of Prague's efforts to acquire the Karlín Barracks. The transaction will have positive benefits for both the city and the state and will allow both parties to efficiently manage, maintain and, above all, invest more in the buildings and equipment. Now we can start working on the reconstruction of this important complex and breathe new life into the parts of the building that are unused," says Adam Zábranský, Prague's Councillor for Property, Transparency and Legislation.

In the short term, the preparation of the building's conversion will in no way compromise or limit the current cultural and social activities that people come to the barracks for.

"The area of the Karlin barracks has a unique potential for long-term use for housing and cultural functions. However, the current technical condition of the buildings will require considerable investment. Further action by the city will therefore be the subject of the next meeting of the Prague City Council," adds Councillor Adam Zábranský.

The agreement on the exchange of immovable property is the result of long-term negotiations between the capital city and the Czech Republic represented by the Office for State Representation in Property Matters. The agreement included the transfer of a total of 46 plots of land and 10 buildings owned by the city, located on the premises of the Bulovka University Hospital, worth CZK 1,718,000,000.

Prague, on the other hand, acquired from the state the barracks in Karlín, including 4 plots and 3 buildings worth CZK 1,113,000,000, a building in Hybernská Street in the city centre for the needs of the university campus worth CZK 265,000,000, two plots of land in the TJ Sokol Praha Královské Vinohrady complex worth CZK 94,763,550, and several other plots and buildings.
